The Charming Facilities of Our Rustic Wedding Venue

A delightful wedding surrounded by the enchantment of the Smoky Mountains is exactly what you can expect when you get married at Country Jewell. The intimate country setting is perfect for a romantic celebration, and the manicured lawns, meandering streams, stone paths, and white painted fences of our Knoxville wedding venue will charm both you and your wedding guests.

There are a variety of beautiful facilities for you to choose from when you begin planning your wedding at Country Jewell. Exchange your vows outdoors under our gazebo or on the patio next to the waterfall, or choose an indoor ceremony in our wedding chapel.

Charming Wedding Chapel

Our beautiful wedding chapel was once a corn crib and tool shed. That's hard to believe when you get a look at it today! Originally built in 1931, this rustic building has been renovated into the charming wedding chapel that we are proud to offer our couples.

It is reminiscent of an old country church with it's red oak floors, simple benches, and the original barn board walls. We added a stunning Victorian reproduction stained glass panel over the altar, giving the entire chapel a
romantic ambiance. This particular facility can accommodate up to 45 people.

Scenic Wedding Gazebo

The scenic landscapes surrounding Country Jewell are your backdrop for an outdoor wedding in our gazebo.  It is surrounded by lush landscapes and gorgeous mountain views. The vibrant colors of each season surround the gazebo, along with meandering streams and a bubbling waterfall. A simply breath-taking spot to say "I do."

Main Special Event Barn

You will get a feeling of tradition and history from our enchanting main special event building. The Lewis Barn was originally built in 1929. A complete renovation has updated this facility to be the perfect venue for a rustic wedding while still maintaining its original character and charm.

Parties of up to 100 guests fit comfortably inside our quaint wedding barn. It is an open area capable of a variety of different reception setups. It is fully equipped with restrooms, a kitchen and serving area, and even features a loft for music, dancing, and some incredible wedding photos.

10 Wedding Trends for 2016

A trend is defined as "the general direction in which something is developing or changing; a fashion."  Country Jewell likes to think of trends that are related to weddings as merely suggestions.  Every bride and groom has their own personal taste, so popular trends may not always match what you like, but they are great for inspiring ideas of your own.

Our Knoxville wedding venue has its own rustic charm built in, but is a blank enough canvas that these 2016 wedding trends could easily be incorporated into your Country Jewell wedding.

1. Barn Weddings

We are always thrilled to see that this trend is still a popular one!  Our rustic Knoxville wedding barn is perfect for this, plus we have the beautiful wedding gazebo outside and our charming wedding chapel all available to you.

2. Natural Elements

Couples are beginning to bring the outdoors indoors to decorate.  Many centerpieces are made from growing plants like succulents rather than cut flower arrangements. Also, the addition of many natural details are becoming an extremely popular look. Elements like cork, wood, and stone work beautifully with a rustic wedding.

3. Tone-on-Tone Florals

For those that do choose to incorporate cut flowers, we are seeing a lot of arrangements using the same color throughout, but in a variety of shades.  Starting with the lightest variation of a color all the way through to the deepest can be absolutely breathtaking.

4. Metallics & Shimmer

Beginning with the save-the-dates and wedding invitations and making its way through decorations and fashion, metallics and shimmery hues are showing up all over weddings.  Many decide to use a neutral palette with pops of these shiny accents.  Rose gold seems to be a popular choice.

5. Rectangular Reception Tables

Reception tables are making a move from the round tables of the past to long, rectangular setups.  Another option is to mix it up and use a variety of both shapes around the room.

6. Mismatched Bridesmaid Gowns

This trend gives your bridesmaids a little more freedom with their look.  Each girl can choose a dress that fits her body best, and you don't have a lot of cranky friends fighting over which gown to buy.  Give them a guideline so that the dresses tie in together, such as different shades of one color to search for or one particular color, but any in style they like.

7. Drone Photography

Drones can give you a wedding perspective that most never get to see. Videographers can attach a camera to the drone and tape the entire wedding from above, capturing all of your guests in the shot too.  It also allows for some very interesting camera angles.  Photos from up high are creative and turn out fun and gorgeous.

8. Musical Options

Long gone are the days of deciding on a band or a DJ.  Today, many weddings are using both!  Just imagine, a string quartet outside by the gazebo, followed by a small ensemble playing your favorite songs during cocktail hour, then closing the night with a DJ in the barn and lots of dancing!

9. Power Bars & Selfie Stations

By now, if you own a cell phone, you should have mastered the selfie.  You know your guests are very likely to be taking them, so why not set up a special area to make it extra fun.  Provide props & a special wedding hashtag so that everyone shares photos with each other.  Make sure that their phone batteries stay charged by having an area set aside with cords plugged in and ready for each type of phone.

10. Desserts vs. Cakes

A table full of a variety of tasty desserts is seen more often today than a wedding cake alone.  Pies, cupcakes, cookies, cheesecakes, even donuts!  Those that are opting for wedding cake have gone back to ordering buttercream over fondant, or doing away with the frosting altogether and having "naked" cakes adorned with fruit instead.

We would love to hear what special touches that you will be adding to your upcoming ceremony and reception.  When you begin planning a wedding in Knoxville, these trends will hopefully give you a place to start.  Once you add your own spin, you will have a day that everyone talks about for years to come.  Having Country Jewell as a backdrop for that wedding will really make it a day that everyone will always remember.

Valentine's Day Traditions to Incorporate Into Your Wedding

Valentine's Day is a holiday full of love and romance, much like your wedding will be.  Planning a wedding in Tennessee requires you to think about how you would like to add extra-special touches of love and romance throughout the celebration.

Here at Country Jewell, we decided to turn to a few Valentine's Day traditions from around the world for a little inspiration.  These three countries gave us a few sweet ideas.

France
The oldest known surviving Valentine is located in the British Library in London, but it is a poem that was written by a French man.  Charles, Duke of Orleans, composed and sent a poem to his wife while he was imprisoned in the Tower of London.

Your wedding:
Much less dramatic than being imprisoned miles away from each other, on the wedding morning the bride and groom are usually separated.  You will each be getting ready with your half of the wedding party in different rooms.  This is a perfect time to send a love letter to your fiance to read before you see each other and say "I do."

Italy
Italians originally celebrated their Valentine's Day as a Spring Festival.  Those that were young and in love would gather outdoors to enjoy poetry and music before taking a stroll with their loved one.  A popular sweet to give in Italy is Baci Perugina, which is a chocolate-covered hazelnut with whipped filling.  The romantic thing about these candies is that they are wrapped in love notes meant for the recipient.

Your wedding:
You can imitate these traditions in your wedding by having someone read a romantic poem or sing a beautiful love song during the ceremony before you stroll down the aisle together after being pronounced man and wife.  Replicate a sweet treat attached to a loving note by making them the favors for your wedding guests.

Brazil
Brazil's "Lovers' Day" is celebrated on June 12, and it's not only for couples.  Love is expressed for family and friends through gift-giving and sharing meals together.

Your wedding:
This sounds a lot like the entire wedding ceremony and reception here in America. The wedding day is about the two of you, but sharing it with all of your family and friends makes it even more love-filled and special.

You can easily fill your wedding with lots and lots of romantic Valentine's Day inspired touches without making it all hearts and cupids.  It's the small details that come straight from the heart that you and your wedding guests will remember and cherish for years to come.  A tour of our rustic wedding venue in Knoxville will inspire even more incredible ideas.  Give us a call so that we can show you around Country Jewell and come up with some amazing romantic wedding ideas together.

Ideas for a Romantic Rustic Wedding

The word "rustic" is defined as "relating to the countryside; rural; constructed or made in a plain and simple fashion."  Our rustic wedding barn in Knoxville doesn't need a lot of fancy decor to make it perfect, just a bit of simple decoration put together with a lot of heart.  Country Jewell has witnessed many rustic-style weddings over the years, and even though the definition doesn't do it justice, the word "rustic" means a charming and romantic event to us.

A rustic wedding generally makes one feel as if some of the outdoors has been brought indoors.  Lots of earthy colors and natural textures.  The barn and delightful wedding chapel at Country Jewell are the perfect backdrop for this theme, and very little added decor is even necessary.  Here are some wonderful elements to incorporate when you do begin picking out your decorations.

Burlap

Burlap is the perfect color to blend in with all of the barn wood.  It is easy to work with and extremely versatile.  Adding a bit of lace gives everything a very romantic feel.  The cake below is adorned with burlap flowers.  It makes a great table runner too, and looks lovely tied on a chair back.  Many couples use it as a canvas and write wedding quotes on it.

Mason Jars

These seem to be used for just about everything everywhere, not only rustic weddings.  They can be turned into drinking glasses and hold flowers for centerpieces or silverware on the buffet table.  Candles flicker beautifully inside them.  These jars are pretty when they are plain, but easy to dress up too.  They can be painted, frosted & etched, or wrapped in burlap and lace.

Wood

We have seen small logs, slices of tree trunks, branches, and more used in some very creative ways to add to a rustic wedding's decor.  You can make signs for the photo booth or table numbers with cut pieces.  Branches in a vase or bottle can resemble small trees for a variety of centerpiece looks.  It also works well to set decorations on so that table decor is placed at different levels.  If you cut it straight enough so that it sits completely flat, it is adorable holding up a wedding cake.

Baby's Breath

This is about as simple as you can get with a flower, yet it has a very dreamy type of romance to it.  You can buy large bunches fairly inexpensively and it doesn't take much to fill out an arrangement.  Baby's breath looks lovely in buckets or baskets lining the wedding aisle, and it also works well adorning just about everything in the room.  You can even use it to make a simple boutonniere for the fellas.

Boots

Guys aren't the only ones wearing boots at a wedding. When a bride lifts her skirt to take a step and those fancy cowboy boots are peeking out, your rustic wedding look is complete.  It makes sense, especially if you are in a wedding barn, and they are a lot more comfortable than heels to wear all day long.

The charming wedding venue of Country Jewell is the perfect place to host a rustic wedding.  The barn is already beautiful and has its own kind of charm, even before any decorations are added, and the scenery outdoors will take your breath away.  If you are getting ready to plan a wedding in Knoxville, no matter what theme you are going with, stop by and see what a beautiful wedding day you can have at Country Jewell.
